Thanks to a great turnout from the community, in just three hours on Tuesday, May 12, Fin’s Seafood Restaurant in Grover Beach helped 5Cities Homeless Coalition raise more than $10,000 for children, youth and families impacted by homelessness in San Luis Obispo County.
All of the funds raised from the approximately 400 drive-thru take-out meals was donated to 5Cities Homeless Coalition to meet critical needs of those who are homeless and facing homelessness, particularly unaccompanied youth (students without a parent or guardian), veterans and families with children.
Fin’s employees, who have donated all of their time and tips to the Coalition during past fundraisers, received all the tips during the event.
“We are very aware of how the COVID-19 crisis has affected restaurant workers and their families throughout the county,” said 5Cities Homeless Coalition Executive Director Janna Nichols. “We couldn’t forget our friends at Fin’s, who have just gotten back to work on a limited basis, and who have always supported us in the past.”
The Coalition is receiving almost twice as many calls for help as before the pandemic, Nichols said.
Fin’s Seafood Restaurant is now back in business for take-out-only, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from noon to 7 pm.
