For 50 years, Roxanne's Birkenstock has been more than a shoe store in downtown San Luis Obispo. Since opening its doors in 1976, the locally rooted business has embraced a simple philosophy: being part of a community means giving back to it.
On Saturday, October 10, Roxanne's Birkenstock celebrated its golden anniversary with a 50th Anniversary Sale & Celebration at Mission Mall in downtown San Luis Obispo. 5Cities Homeless Coalition (5CHC) was honored to participate, connecting with community members and sharing information about the resources and services available to individuals and families experiencing homelessness or housing instability.
A Tradition of Giving That Spans Generations
In 2001, Roxanne's Birkenstock established Gifts From The Sky, a charitable program that has provided thousands of pairs of shoes to people in need over the past 25 years.
What began as a commitment to giving back has grown into an enduring tradition of generosity, supported by dedicated staff, community connections, and meaningful partnerships.
Continuing that tradition, Roxanne's Birkenstock generously donated five cases of new and used shoes to 5Cities Homeless Coalition as part of its anniversary celebration.
For the individuals and families 5CHC serves, access to appropriate footwear is more than a matter of comfort. A reliable pair of shoes can help someone get to work, attend appointments, access essential services, and navigate daily life with greater dignity and confidence.
